The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) is conducting a campaign to encourage international residents to get tested and vaccinated for COVID-19 in the midst of the rising confirmed cases among internationals in Seoul. Through this campaign, the SMG will ensure that international residents experience no obstacles to get tested and vaccinated due to lack of information or language barrier.
The SMG will first hold a joint campaign together with district offices, police stations, and international resident support centers in foreigner-populated areas, such as Guro, Yeongdeungpo and Yongsan.
Recognizing that the vaccination rate of international residents is relatively lower due to the more complicated booking procedure compared to for Korean nationals, and lack of information in foreign languages, the SMG will distribute an information sheet containing detailed information about the COVID-19 vaccination. Using the information sheet, the SMG will publicize to international residents that reservations are received under the same criteria and process for both Korean nationals and non-Korean nationals.
Moreover, the SMG will continue its online and offline promotional activities until Sat, Sep. 18, the last day for reservations for ages 18 to 49, through district offices of foreigner-populated areas in the southwestern part of Seoul as well as 18 international resident support centers.
Efforts to increase international residents’ getting tested for COVID-19 will also be continued. In August, a poster encouraging the test in multiple languages was distributed for display to 4,475 locations frequented by international residents, such as construction sites and recruiting agencies. In addition, a video encouraging the test will be played at 29,664 locations including outdoor signboards and subway platforms until Fri, Sep. 10.
