Food & Drink My First Haejang-guk Experience

Hello everyone,
Today I tried haejang-guk for the very first time, and it was such an interesting experience that I wanted to share it here. For those who don’t know, haejang-guk is a traditional Korean soup, often called “hangover soup.” It’s usually eaten in the morning after drinking, but many people enjoy it any time of the day.
The restaurant I went to was small but very cozy. The smell of the soup came out as soon as the server brought it to my table. At first, I was a little nervous because the soup looked different from the food I normally eat. It was full of vegetables, green onions, cabbage, and pieces of beef. The broth was dark and had a rich aroma.
When I took the first spoonful, I was surprised at how comforting it tasted. It was warm, savory, and had a deep flavor that felt very healthy. The cabbage and meat blended perfectly, and the broth had a slightly spicy kick, but not too strong. It made me feel calm and refreshed at the same time.
I also enjoyed the side dishes that came with it kimchi, radish, and a few others. Together, the meal felt balanced and filling.
Trying haejang-guk taught me something: sometimes, foods that look unusual at first can become your favorites once you taste them. I think I’ll definitely eat it again, even if I don’t need it for a hangover.
