I've been using Claude for a while, but I recently discovered that Claude can generate charts and graphs directly and export them as SVG files. It's pretty useful for presentation work, so I thought it was worth sharing.

If you describe the data or chart type you want, Claude generates it right within the chat window. It handles common formats like bar charts, line graphs, and pie charts without any issues. You can either enter the data directly or paste a table and ask it to visualize it.

What makes this more useful than a simple screenshot is the SVG export. Since SVG files are vector-based, you can open them in Illustrator, Figma, or PowerPoint and edit individual elements — colors, labels, sizes, layout. If the generated chart is close but not quite right, you don't have to start from scratch. Just open the SVG and adjust it directly.

I asked Claude to create a simple bar chart comparing monthly data, then exported the SVG and opened it in PowerPoint to test it. The objects were fully editable — I could click on individual bars to change their colors or resize them without any loss of quality.

While it can't replace professional data visualization tools for complex tasks, it works well for everyday presentation needs — preparing slide materials, matching chart colors to your overall design, or quickly visualizing numbers. The SVG editability is what makes it genuinely useful rather than just a novelty.

If you haven't tried it yet, it's worth giving it a shot. Just describe what you need and ask for an SVG export at the end.
