Tech Thoughts and Concerns About AGI

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about AGI, or Artificial General Intelligence. Unlike current AI systems that mainly focus on specific tasks, AGI could potentially learn and think across many different areas like humans do. The technology is fascinating, but it also makes me feel uneasy sometimes.
To be honest, some of my worries are almost science-fiction level thoughts. Sometimes I wonder, “What if AI eventually becomes something like Skynet from Terminator?” or “What if the situation in The Matrix series becomes reality?” I know these are fictional stories, but AI development is moving so quickly that the ideas do not feel completely impossible anymore.
I also started thinking about this more seriously after hearing discussions about models like Claude Mythos and other advanced AI systems. When AI companies themselves talk about safety risks or decide not to release certain technologies publicly, it makes me think there may be real reasons for concern. Even Sam Altman has publicly discussed the risks and responsibilities related to powerful AI.
Of course, AGI could also bring huge benefits in science, medicine, and education. I do not think AI itself is automatically bad. However, I feel that AI development is becoming so powerful that some kind of international regulation or global agreement may eventually be necessary to keep it safe and under control.
