A little while ago, I visited a restaurant called
IDA on Seosulla-gil in Seoul.

While enjoying my meal, I came across something really interesting. There were tiny, caviar-like pearls on my food. When I bit into them, they popped in my mouth and released a refreshing, lemon-like juice.

At first, I thought they were some kind of special sauce, so I asked the staff what they were. That's when I learned about a fruit called finger lime.

I was curious, so I looked it up and discovered some interesting facts.

Finger limes are a type of citrus fruit native to Australia. They get their name from their long, finger-like shape. When you cut one open, you'll find hundreds of tiny, juice-filled pearls inside.

Because these little pearls look so much like caviar, finger limes are also known as "citrus caviar."

Unlike regular lemons or limes, which are usually squeezed for their juice, finger limes are often used whole, with the little pearls sprinkled directly over food. Each pearl bursts in your mouth, releasing a fresh, tangy flavor.

They also come in different colors, including green, pink, and red.

Finger limes go especially well with seafood, such as oysters, shrimp, and fish. Many fine-dining restaurants use them to add a special touch to dishes like ceviche, carpaccio, and even desserts.

I couldn't stop thinking about that unique taste and texture, so I ended up ordering some online through Naver.

The price? 20,000 won for just 100 grams!

Definitely not cheap for a fruit, but I decided it was worth trying something new.

I'm planning to use them at home in two of my favorite dishes: pulpo, a Spanish-style octopus dish, and shrimp ceviche. I think those little citrus pearls will add a wonderful burst of flavor and texture.

I've always enjoyed discovering new ingredients and experimenting with them in my own kitchen. It's exciting when something I taste at a restaurant inspires me to try something different at home.

Sometimes, a small discovery can bring a surprising amount of joy to everyday cooking.

Have you ever tried finger limes? If so, what dishes have you used them in? I'd love to hear your ideas!
