Coming from Ethiopia, a country with a warm climate and no snow, skiing was always something I only saw in movies or heard about from others. However, during my time in South Korea, I had the chance to visit the Elysian Gangchon Ski Resort, and it turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life.

From the moment I arrived, the sight of the snow-covered slopes took my breath away. Although I had seen snow before in Korea, and the crisp, cold air made everything feel so surreal. As a beginner, I had no idea how to ski, but the friendly staff and beginner-friendly facilities at Elysian Gangchon made it the perfect place to try. The resort offers equipment rentals and even lessons for first-timers, so I felt well-supported.

My first attempt at skiing was filled with excitement and many falls. Standing on the ski board and keeping my balance felt almost impossible at first, but I was determined to make progress. Within two hours, I managed to slide a short distance without falling. That moment, though small, felt like a major victory. It was incredible to feel the skis glide over the snow, even if I wasn’t going very far.

The resort itself is a fantastic place, not just for skiing but also for enjoying the serene beauty of the snow-covered mountains. There are slopes for all levels, from beginners to advanced skiers, and the staff is incredibly helpful. The resort’s picturesque surroundings and well-maintained facilities make it an ideal destination for anyone looking to experience winter sports or simply enjoy a snowy adventure.

Looking back, my day at Elysian Gangchon Ski Resort was filled with laughter, learning, and a sense of achievement. It’s a memory I’ll treasure forever, and it has inspired me to try skiing again.
