Language & Culture Busan Beyond the Conference

I went to Busan for an academic conference, so the main purpose of the trip was work. I was focused on my presentation and spent most of my time moving between the venue and my accommodation. Even so, Busan left a much stronger impression on me than I expected.
What I liked most was that even a short and busy trip still felt full of local character. I had gukbap, which felt warm and comforting after a long day, and I also had fresh sashimi near the harbor. Those meals made the trip feel like more than just a conference schedule. They gave me small but memorable moments that felt distinctly Busan.
The city itself also stayed with me. There was something about the mix of the port atmosphere, the food, and the energy of the city that made the whole experience feel different from my usual routine. Even though I was there for academic reasons, Busan did not feel like a place I simply visited for an event. It felt like a city with its own rhythm and charm.
Another reason the trip remains memorable is that the conference ended well. I was nervous about my presentation before I went, so finishing everything safely made the experience feel even better. Maybe that is why the city itself felt warmer and more welcoming afterward.
It was not a long trip, but it was enough to make me want to come back. Next time, I would love to visit Busan again with a little more time, not just for a conference, but to enjoy the city itself.
