Food & Drink How Cooking at Home Changed the Way I Enjoy Food

I used to think of cooking as something I just didn’t have time for. Between work, errands, and everything in between, ordering food always felt like the easiest option. But at some point, takeout started to feel boring. The food was fine, but it never felt satisfying. So one day, I decided to cook something simple—just pasta with garlic and olive oil.
It wasn’t perfect, but there was something really calming about chopping ingredients, hearing the sizzle in the pan, and sitting down to eat something I made myself.
Since then, I’ve started cooking more often. Not every day, but enough that I now look forward to it. I’ve tried new recipes, messed up a few, and even found some comfort meals that I keep going back to.
The funny thing is, I never thought of myself as someone who “cooks.” But now, I kind of do. And the best part? The food tastes better—not because it’s perfect, but because I made it.
It’s not about being a great cook. It’s about discovering how much joy a simple meal can bring when you make it yourself.
