On Sunday, September 29, 2024, I had the opportunity to attend the 45th Soyang River Festival in Chuncheon, which took place in front of the City Hall. This vibrant festival, an annual event that celebrates the culture and community of Chuncheon, was filled with exciting activities that showcased both traditional and modern elements of Korean culture.
I immersed myself in various hands-on experiences, starting with traditional Korean games, which brought a sense of nostalgia and connection to the country’s rich history. I also got to wear a Korean school uniform, which was a fun and unique way to experience a slice of everyday Korean life. Afterward, I enjoyed some delicious traditional Korean tea, followed by making my very own cotton candy—such a fun throwback to childhood! There was even a photo booth where I could capture memories, along with a caricature artist who drew me, adding a creative touch to my day.
Other highlights included balloon art, making personalized bracelets, and just soaking in the lively atmosphere of the festival. The Soyang River Festival offers something for everyone, blending cultural experiences with entertainment, and I felt lucky to be a part of this wonderful celebration in Chuncheon!
