Language & Culture My Friend Kim

When I moved to South Korea to pursue my master’s degree, everything around me felt unfamiliar—a new language, a new culture, and a new way of life. Over time, I made a few friends, but one friendship that has stood out from the beginning until now is my friendship with Kim.
Kim and I connected naturally through shared curiosity. We often exchanged parts of our cultures—he introduced me to traditional Korean food and customs, while I shared the flavors of Bangladeshi cuisine. Language became another fun part of our friendship. Kim helped me learn everyday Korean expressions, and I helped him practice English. These moments not only made learning easier but also deepened our bond. Even now, during our daily meetings, we continue to learn new words from each other—one or two at a time.
What I appreciate most about Kim is how thoughtful and helpful he is. From guiding me through essential Korean apps to showing me how to navigate daily life more smoothly, he made settling in feel far less overwhelming. Whenever we had free time, we would hang out—exploring new places, trying snacks, or simply chatting about life. His friendship has been a constant source of support, laughter, and cultural discovery for me in a foreign country.
