Apple is set to unveil iOS 18.2 this December, packed with innovative features that aim to elevate user experiences to a whole new level. The update introduces the core functionalities of a new AI system called “Apple Intelligence,” promising smarter and more intuitive interactions.
Genmoji allows users to create personalized emojis directly through the system keyboard, offering a unique way to express individuality and creativity.
Image Playground is another standout feature, enabling users to generate creative AI-powered images effortlessly, making the creation of visual content easier than ever.
One of the most notable additions is the integration of Siri with ChatGPT. Now, Siri can be activated not only by voice but also via text, allowing users to utilize the AI assistant even in quiet environments.
The Mail app has undergone a major overhaul. With the introduction of visual enhancements like sender profile pictures and business logos, emails now feel more engaging. Additionally, the new “Digest View” organizes emails by importance and consolidates messages from the same sender for easier navigation.
The camera controls have also been upgraded, adding features like auto-exposure and auto-focus lock. Users can long-press camera controls to lock both focus and exposure at their desired settings, enhancing their photography experience.
The update also brings a new “Item Location Sharing” feature. It allows users to share the location of their AirTags or other “Find My” network accessories with third parties, making it easier to track and recover lost items.
Improvements to the default app management system now make it simpler for users to select default apps for email, messaging, calls, and web browsing. Apple News+ subscribers can also look forward to daily Sudoku puzzles as part of their subscription.
Beyond iOS, Apple plans to release macOS 15.2 and visionOS 2.2 in December. The visionOS update, tailored for the Vision Pro, will introduce support for ultra-wide Mac virtual displays and additional screen resolution options, including regular, wide, and ultra-wide settings.
In time for the holiday season, Apple Arcade subscribers will gain access to 15 new game titles, including “Final Fantasy IV (3D Remake),” “Talking Tom Blast Park,” and “FF IV: The After Years+.”
With iOS 18.2, Apple continues to push the boundaries of functionality and convenience, delivering a richer, smarter, and more seamless user experience.
