I’ve always loved coffee. Whether it was grabbing an iced Americano on a hot day or sipping a warm latte during winter, coffee was just part of my daily routine. Cafés were like second homes to me—I knew which places had the strongest brews, the coziest seats, or the best playlist. Buying coffee was something I genuinely enjoyed.

But recently, that habit started to shift. One weekend, on a whim, I bought a small hand drip set—a simple pour-over filter, a gooseneck kettle, and a bag of freshly ground beans. I wasn’t planning to turn into a home barista. I just wanted to try something different.

The first time I made a cup, I was surprised by how calming the process felt. Heating the water, rinsing the filter, slowly pouring in circles—it made me slow down. Unlike the quick in-and-out of a café visit, this felt more like a quiet ritual.

Now, I still love cafés, but there’s something special about making coffee myself. I get to control the strength, experiment with beans, and enjoy the smell of freshly brewed coffee filling my kitchen every morning. It’s become my little pause before the day begins.

I haven’t stopped being a coffee lover—I’ve just started enjoying it in a new, more mindful way. Making coffee at home isn’t just about saving time or money. For me, it’s about being present, one slow pour at a time.
