If you’ve been to Korea, you’ve probably tried dishes made with Doenjang. It is most commonly used in soups or stews.

However, in Chuncheon, you can find a slightly different kind of doenjang dish called Doenjang Somyeon. It is commonly served in Korean BBQ restaurants or casual pubs. The dish is essentially doenjang stew with thin wheat noodles added, creating a broth that is both rich and clean, with the noodles adding an extra layer of savory flavor.

At first, I assumed this dish would be easy to find in other regions as well, but I was surprised to see how commonly it appears specifically in Chuncheon.

If you ever get the chance, I recommend giving it a try. It may not be widely famous, but it’s definitely an interesting experience.
